Additional Gamification Ideas

Last updated February 10, 2023

Gamification encourages virtual, hybrid, and onsite engagement – in the moment and after your event. It’s a strategy worth exploring. What may start out as competition will turn into genuine engagement. The best experiences are the ones where you get creative. Here are a few ideas:

(Virtual) Sponsor Passport Game

Creating engagement is a major objective at any event, and it is even more valuable during your virtual conferences. If you can incorporate some fun and friendly competition, well that's even better! The purpose of the Virtual Sponsor Game is to encourage attendees to connect with sponsors before and during your virtual meeting in a fun and engaging way. This game is a virtual combination of a Passport Game and Trivia Contest and provides ROI for sponsors both in BRAND AWARENESS and the GENERATION OF LEADS.

Photo of the Day

This game is simple to set up and has gotten great reviews. The rules are simple, attendees upload their favorite event photos to the timeline and at the end of each day a winner is chosen for a prize (usually a gift card). Game instructions can be easily provided via an "Additional Menu Item", "Notification" or via email.

Top Timeline Contributor

This is another simple game built into the app that encourages attendee engagement while keeping timeline content valuable. Attendees simply post comments or photos to the timeline either directly or via sessions they are attending. Fellow attendees can then "like" the posts that they find valuable and the attendee with the most "likes" at the end of the event wins. To set up simply create a navigation item and notification explaining the rules and announcing eligible prizes. Additional game updates can be communicated directly via the timeline.

Trivia Game

Everyone loves a good quiz…and so will your attendees! Use your survey functionality to ask questions and give points for correct answers. Tie in quiz participation with the Timeline and use the app leaderboard so players can see who is in the lead throughout the event. Add organization and location trivia questions for extra fun. Players receive prizes or badges and progress through levels of achievement.

Passcode Game

An exhibitor/sponsor passcode game drives traffic to the trade show floor. Start by assigning a "passcode" for each exhibitor or sponsor. Using poll questions and the exhibitor detail page in the app to allow attendees to enter in the passcode for each exhibitor that they engage. Determine the winner by selecting the attendee with the most correct passcodes collected. Post the contest information in your event mobile app menu. Here is where you’ll describe the game, the rules and the prizes. A fun way to create buzz around the game, ask players to post pictures with sponsors.

You can also leverage the app to create custom games or support "non-digital" games and activities.
