Setting Access Restrictions

Last updated June 12, 2023

Access Restrictions:

The access restrictions instructions field is required, please use it to let your attendees know how they can gain access to the event as these instructions will be displayed on the login page.

Choose between three different access restriction options depending on the privacy/registration of your event.

  • Open to everyone- will allow anyone who locates your app/website to enter and create a profile. This is best used when it is a free open event or a low-profile event. Users will still be prompted to verify their email address when creating a profile.

Instructions example: "This event is open to everyone, please enter your email to login"

  • Requires Engagefully login with an approved email address- a registrant roster must be uploaded to the back office and attendees must log in using the same email address listed in their roster entry. This is best used for events that require paid registration, contain sensitive and/or industry-specific content, or is closed to a certain group of people.

Instructions example: "Please use the email you used to register to login to the event. If you need to register, please reach out to name@email.com or visit website.com."

  • Requires authentication through a shared password- this option allows you to bypass uploading a registrant roster while simultaneously restricting access to a specific pool of attendees. You will set and provide a password for attendees that they will use during initial login to the event. This is best used for in-person events where most of the registration takes place on-site.

Instructions example:  "See the registration desk to find the shared password."
