Gamification Trivia Quiz with Conferences I/O

Using the RD Mobile Backoffice and Conferences IO, you can setup a simple trivia game. The advantages of this game are once the setup is done, the game essentially plays itself during your event because there is limited onsite staff support needed during your event. (Huge bonus!) Follow the steps outlined below to create a trivia game for your next event.

Important Note: The sessions should exist in the backoffice first, then you can sync with CIO. Otherwise, you are at risk of deleting your own game in the admin platform.

You will want to have the sessions in the backoffice, then sync → set up the trivia game.

  1. Start by setting up your trivia game. You'll do this in two places:
    1. Conferences IO Admin Platform - Create a new session called: [GAME NAME]. In this example, the game name is: Fusion Productions Game. In the session details section, add the game information and instructions.
    2. RD Mobile Backoffice - Add an app Menu Item for the game and include the same game information and instructions in the optional Description Field. Here you can add formatting to make game information easier to read and include images/emoji to build excitement. Example:
  2. In the Conference IO Admin Platform, find the [GAME NAME] session. Add trivia game questions as poll questions within the session. Use a variety of trivia questions. For example, questions can be from:
    1. Your Organization - Players will learn more about your organization and promote internal events/products/services
    2. Your App - Players will find out more about the app features and make the most of their event experience
    3. Your Exhibitors/Sponsors - Provide additional exposure and promote a tradeshow/drive booth traffic
  3. In the RD Mobile Backoffice, create and schedule app notifications. Use each app notification to deploy each game question. In each app notification, add an image or button to allow players to participate/answer each question. Link your image or icon to the poll question. Each poll question created in Conferences IO has a unique link.

    This is the best place to be creative and customize the look/feel of the game. Use the WYSIWYG and Image Library.

  4. Now it's game day! The first trivia game question will be sent out via an app notification. Depending on your event, it's recommended to schedule no more than 3 trivia games in a 1-day time period. Remember, you'll also have event app notifications scheduled during this time.
  5. To submit the answer, the player will tap on the image or button. In this example, the player tapped on the digitalNow Icon (Size: 150x150, PNG) and was directed to Game Question 1. Example Poll Question Link: https://digitalnow-12159.cnf.io/sessions/cehn/#!/polls/xyxp
  6. Include the [GAME NAME] in your event promotions and onsite announcements. You can view results at anytime in the Conferences IO Admin Platform. After the first day of playing, you can view a report. Encourage more to play and recognize those playing.
  7. Announce and reward the winners! This is up to your organization, but in this example, 3 winners were awarded Amazon Gift Cards.
