Leaderboard

Last updated August 10, 2022

The Leaderboard improves adding more ways to incentivize users to engage with event content through gamification.

Features:

The following features have been added, both in the desktop experience and in the apps:

  1. A more visually appealing Leaderboard with rankings highlighting 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place users.
  2. Attendees can track their scores by viewing a breakdown of their activities and associated points.
  3. A customizable Rules and Prizes section for explaining the game and incentivizing participation by specifying rewards/gifts for top scorers.

The Leaderboard will display a ranking based on the points users gain by participating in certain activities. Admins can select a set of user activates that will score points, and define how many points each is worth. Currently, the following actions can be configured to award users points:

How to Set Up the Game

The Leaderboard requires that Social Networking features are enabled:

  • Edit Event > Social Networking tab > Check box for "Enable social networking functionality"

The new gamification features are configured from a new tab on the Edit Event form in the Backoffice:

  • Edit Event > Gamification tab > Check box for " Enable gamification"

The Gamification options consist of the following:

  • Selecting the set of user activities that will score points, and how many points each is worth:
    • The user activities with check marks are enabled. They can be disabled by clicking to remove the check mark
    • The weight of each activity (how many points they are worth) can be edited

  • Rules and Prizes
    • Enter the title and the description in the Rules and the Prizes fields. If no content is entered, default texts will appear in the apps.
  • Optionally setting an end date for the game
    • The latest that this can be set is 16 weeks past the end date of the event, which is also when the game will end:

  • Choosing zero or more event roles that make a participant ineligible for the game
    • Users with these roles will not appear on the Leaderboard
    • Ineligible roles can be selected from a dropdown list

Please remember to hit the Save button to preserve any changes.

Add the Leaderboard to your menu by editing the event menu, and dragging the Leaderboard item onto your menu structure: Manage Menu > Drag the Leaderboard item over to the left > Save
